Which are the most well received diets currently? How are these different, and how do the diets differ in their nutritional contents? Here is an overview of some.

The Mediterranean Diet

Proven to help with depression, in addition to controlling blood sugar levels and helping with weight loss, this is another kind of vegetable-heavy diet that avoids a lot of meat, but does not eliminate it altogether. It recommends the use of healthy oil (e.g. olive oil) as much as possible as an alternative to butter, salad dressings or marinades. It also emphasizes adding vegetables to each meal and favors fish over chicken. Whole grains, nuts and herbs are also used in larger amounts.

Ketogenic diet (Keto Diet)
One of the most popular diets, the ketogenic diet has more recently been adopted as a weight-loss diet. In this diet, fat is the main source of calories, followed by moderate protein and a very small amount of carbohydrates. Almost all bread, grains, and cereals, and even most fruits and starchy vegetables are off the keto list. The keto diet restricts carbs so much that your body has no choice but to turn to burning fat for fuel. But guess what, goodnews as there are now special recipes that allows one continue to enjoy their  favourite bread, sandwiches and pizzas.

This diet was first introduced in 2003. It does not eliminate carbohydrates altogether, but aims to educate dieters on which carbs to always avoid. This can encourage a healthy way of eating so that it will be sustainable for the rest of people’s lives. The diet includes a selection of healthy fats, lean protein, as well as good carbs.
